-"Why" do we treat China with "kid gloves", from an Economical
perspective ? (only serious and informative responses, please).
My one conclusion is, "We fear ticking them off".... for many
"long-tentacled reasons"....The short answer is, they need us just as much as we need them. It's called the global economy!!Not been an economics expert but having seen what China has been doing for years I get the idea the reason is that China has done so many deals with African countries for example for their raw materials that if China gets mad and says to them Stop them getting your coffee to these and other raw material they can hit the everyday person a lot faster than the US and others want to risk. Really if China wanted to could have countries cut nearly half the world oil supply. two thirds of the coffee and coco beans with a phone call.
True, we owe them tons of money, but the U.S. also buys tons of products from them. If they stopped selling us their products, their economy could collapse, or at least suffer a great deal.
If we can't pay out debt to them, they know we would stop importing products if they put up a fuss.
We wouldn't want them showing up at Fort Knox demanding some of our gold bullion (if we still have some there).
The same reason that they treat us with "kid gloves"
As Mao once said in response to a comment by Khrushchev that the USA was a paper tiger, "They may be a paper tiger, but they have nuclear teeth"
because china's economic gloves can crash american economy
